Meat is sold by hanging weight. This is approximately 60% of live weight. We estimate that our hogs will weigh 380 lbs., which would be approximately 230 lbs. hanging weight.
The packaged pork take-home weight is approximately 60% of the hanging weight. If the hanging weight is 230 lbs., you would take home approximately 135 lbs. of finished pork.
If you ordered a 1/2 hog, you can expect to receive about: 26 Bone-in Loin Chops, 2 Shoulder Roasts, 6 Shoulder Steaks, 1 Spare Ribs, 5 lbs Breakfast Sausage, 5 lbs Bratwurst, 25 lbs Cured Ham & Ham Steaks, 10 lbs Cured Bacon.

When calculating for freezer space, allow about 4-6 cubic feet for a whole hog. Chest freezers generally use space better than upright freezers.
