We know the process can be confusing if you've never ordered directly from a farm before.
Don't worry! We are always here to answer any questions you may have to help you through the process! It's much easier than it seems!
All cattle is grass fed. The difference between "grass fed" and "grass fed, grain finished" is what they eat at the end of their lives, which is called "finishing." Our cows are grass fed, grain finished. Grain to a cow is equivalent to a human eating a high-protein diet. It allows more marbling than grass fed beef. This “finishing” process with natural grain results in higher marbling & more flavor than cattle that is only grass fed.
Our beef and pork are processed at a family-owned, USDA certified processing business in central Illinois. The animals are humanely and efficiently processed, and then cut and wrapped.
Visit our Online Shop to see what an average beef & pork order receives. Each item has estimated quantities shown in the description.
Please note: We do our best estimating what you will receive, but no two animals are the exactly the same size. You may receive more or less than what we estimate. Your final payment will be based upon the actual hanging weight.
When calculating for freezer space, the rule of thumb is 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 30-35 lbs of cut and wrapped meat. So, for a 1/4 beef, allow about 4-6 cubic feet. Chest freezers generally use space better than upright freezers.
If you keep meat frozen at 0° or below, it will stay safe to eat indefinitely. However, after time the quality will degrade and you may start to develop freezer burn on the packages. Freezer burn is not a food safety problem, just a taste problem, and can be trimmed away from the meat after defrosting. We suggest about 12 months for beef steaks & roasts, 6 months for ground beef.
We have some customers that will split an order with a friend/family member because they simply don't have room to store large amounts of beef or could never consume that much within their desired time frame.
We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, Zelle, and cash.
You will make two separate payments:
1. 50% deposit on ESTIMATED hanging weight upon ordering
2. Balance on ACTUAL hanging weight due upon delivery
